Cabin Leader

Last week I was a cabin leader at an educational camp known as Walker Creek ranch. If you work, or ever went to Baldwin, or many other schools in the entire bay area, you should remember the little ranch that strides to make kids learn, and love nature. Being a cabin leader wasn't my origional responsobillity. I was supposed to be a junior counsiler to an older kid in high school, but he hurt his leg in an accident so ridiculous I don't think that I should tell it. So, the roles were switched, and I was the main cabin leader. I had no idea of what challenges lay ahead. We had to stay with the kids night and day, exept for the 2 hour brakes everyday, we were together all the time, 22 hours a day. It was the most challenging thing that I had ever done, but im kinda glad I did it, I learned what it was like to be responsible. Most of my kids had either ADD or asma, and the ones with ADD were off there meds, so it was hard to keep there focus. We did get little brakes other than the 2 hour brakes, we had a naturalist, that would lead the kids on hikes, and we went along with them, each boy cabin was apired with a girl cabin, and they would go together on the hikes, we also shared the same naturlist. I think that it is safe to say that we got the best naturalist, he was able to let the kids have fun, and also handle disiplinary issues with ease, he also was the only naturalist that didn't look like a hippie. When we went on the hikes, the cabin leaders job was to keep back, make sure none of the kids fell back, and to help set up the activities that they were gunna do. The entire experiense was a real eye opener for me, and it in a way let me experiense what the teachers go through everyday, and the liability that you face.

Chico

Chico state is one of the top colleges in the country, in partying. Chico state is a school that has such a bad repretation of drunkedness, it has led the part of the staff, that have never been to a different college at all, think that it is regular in colleges. One of the lighter sides of the college, is the concrete construction classes, that class has an exellent reputation for giving the graduates jobs after they finish the course. In fact, right now, out of all of the alumni of the most recent class, only two are still looking for jobs.

The fact that this part of the school has such a good reputation for jobs, definetly makes up for the amount of drunkedness going on in the dorms. And its amazing of how much that one class could brighten up the  entire campus reputation.
